An angle not mentioned here is the Draft position you would need to get Joe Mauer. He seems to be very popular while Jack Clark would be available in the later rounds.You would have expended a much higher draft pick on Joe M.
I also would look at similar priced and skilled players, and for Joe there are only about 2-3. For Jackie race car man there are about 15. It would appear by those measurements that Joe is the better man. However, at 200M you still have to go out and have a good year with him, not always a certainty. At 80M Joe almost always would have a very good year. At 80M Jack Clark might even have a better year. A little more than my 2 cents but under a nickle, lets say.
