Well, there are really two kinds of values. The first kind is "hey, this guy always puts up good numbers for me", which I think is the spirit of this thread. Those are more "personal" bargains, and may be properly priced, just not in demand. I use Jo-Jo Moore a lot compared to others, but I'm not sure he is underpriced, just underused.

The second kind is what you are getting at which is an inefficiency in the pricing model. And IMO there are only two in that category, Mercer and Blowers. Both are going to get you around 200 AB each of 1.000 OPS in about any park at a ridiculously low cost. Those two are what Dale Murray used to be before SOM killed him.

The "correct" pricing model would be dynamic and usage based. Just like Vegas betting odds, the line moves as the bets flow one way or the other.

The more a player gets used, the higher his price goes up and vice-versa for players who don't get used.

The market will set the price.

The last time they raised prices, Obama was campaigning for his second term. I’m good with it.

Not surprised or too concerned that it goes up $5.

My only gripe is that Hal Richman in his letter made 2 points to justify the increase: 1) they've held the line on price since taking the game over from The Sporting News and 2) they're hiring more developers "to expand the game as never before."

However he didn't say that they would incorporate our ideas, suggestions, and feedback to improve the game. That was a strikeout -- a backwards K at that.

PS - My bargain is Cuckoo Christensen at $4.69M. Put him in Forbes '09, he'll hit .350 with a .410 OBP. Put him in the Polo Ground '41, he'll hit .350 with a .410 OBP. As certain to keep his value as a U.S. savings bond.

Cuckoo will also drive in runs. Sometimes over 100 RBI without a HR.

I have always batted him leadoff.....but I am very intrigued by the idea of Cuckoo as a run producer, and so I have been batting him cleanup since your post. Even in lineups that feature proven middle-of-the-order mashers like Kevin Mitchell, Mike Trout, Ryan Ludwick, and Dave Kingman.

And I am liking the results! Thanks for the tip :D
