Bill,

Seriously, thank you for making the list;
I'm seeing a few guys that might be up for me-
some of them have a bit lower OBP and a few I have a vague recollection of not being a 1 or even a 2 fielder.
The hard part is not being able to see the card.

Having said that Ill definitely look at this list before I make my next nomination :D

You're welcome. You can look at some of the cards (as you know, but there might some reading here who don't know) at the following:

2007 http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/2007

2008 http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/2008

2009 http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/2009

2010 http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/2010

2011 http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/playerset/browse/2011

2012 oh, you get the idea...

Rex Hudler http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/2857/1690/1/90 (turns out he's probably a 4)

Keith Lockhart http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/2359/1690/1/90 (probably a 4)

Eric Young http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/3515/1690/1/90 (probably a 4)

I remember the Giles and Loretta cards as being nice.

Is this card any better than one of the Alomar cards? Would it sit on the FA list because no one wants to invest 9+ mil for it?
The answers are: NO and YES !! I'm of the opinion that we have plenty of high priced cards - it would be nice to have some usable lower priced options. You know, a 2B or 3B in the 4 - 5 mil range. And Franchise managers - Pedroia isn't a huge improvement over Bobby Doerr's 7.25 mil card. And I agree that it would be a huge help if the card image was provided for each of the nominees. Sometimes you aren't getting what you expected. :o

p.s. - I'm just as full of crap as anyone else - just thought I'd share my thoughts ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to be critical of anyone's nomination with the Pedroia comment, I almost always play in higher cap leagues so I tend to look at cards through that lens. I doubt that he'll be at 9 mil in ATG though, maybe around 7 mil because of his low E and near bulletproof injury ratings.

Ill try and explain;

is there another 2b whose card we don't have any of- who would have a superior one?
(1e6 or similar who can hit at least a bit- as far as I see the Zobrist card is pretty similar, so is Pedroias 2011 season)
Last time I tried to get us a much superior Cano card, which failed- but can't do that here.

If so please tell me, seriously, b/c I will nominate them next go around.

Don't know about defense...but here's a very quick list of potential 2B candidates, just on their offensive numbers.

2000 Luis Castillo .344/.418/.388
1894 Cupid Childs .358/.475/.459
2005 Mark Ellis .316/.384/.477
2008 Mike Fontenot .305/.395/.514 (2e4)
2003 Marcus Giles .316/.390/.526
2009 Aaron Hill .286/.330/.499 (1e8)
1996 Rex Hudler .311/.337/.556
2006 Orlando Hudson .287/.354/.454
2011 Howie Kendrick .285/.338/.464 (2e6)
2013 Jason Kipnis .284/.366/.452 (2e13)
1997 Aaron Ledesma .352/.437/.500
1995 Keith Lockhart .321/.355/.478
2004 Mark Loretta .335/.391/.495
2011 Brandon Phillips .300/.352/.457 (1e6)
2007 Placido Polanco .341/.388/.458 (2e0)
1894 Heinie Reitz .303/.372/.504
1906 Sammy Strang .319/.423/.435
1995 Eric Young .317/.404/.474

That said, nothing at all wrong with Pedroia (MVP on top of it all).

Bill

too bad we can't get the 1971 Beckert card.

Im not offended;
but have a specific reason for nominating;

Which is to get more usable players in medium and high cap leagues- most of whom could also be used in lower caps.
We have plenty of OFs and 1Bs as I stated already- so getting more 2B, SS, C, 3B etc. to me is much better than getting even yet another 1b or OF similar to what we have.

A 4-5 million guy is unlikely to be used at a higher cap (unless they are weighted heavily for ex.); Im not saying don't nominate anyone in this range-
its totally fine- but he won't be used at the higher caps, and likely will have a much more limited use overall.

I think the Pedroia card will fall somewhere between the Alomar card and Doerr.
and again, if a guy is usable at high caps, there is a good chance he is usable through at least 100 mil- maybe lower.

Looks like we're going to get 3 quality thirdbasemen. Best 2b outstanding is 1884 Fred Dunlap, .412/.448/.621 with 1.069 OPS, 1 fielding range. Wouldn't sit well with the anti 1800's crowd, though. :|
