Wagner or Appling

I know Luke is a popular SS and I have seen teams have success with him. I have always shied away because of his fielding. I am putting together a $100 M team in Forbes 65 and currently have the cheap and injury-prone Wagner at SS. Appling is available. Any thoughts on which one would be better?

For me, it comes down to: can I afford Wagner's injury risk? If I have a couple of other key hitters who can go down for 15, I would take Appling. Doesn't look like you have that problem.

I've had Honus on two recent Barnstormer teams

He missed 35+ games on one team and pacing to miss 50+ on another team

I went with the best $1 under SS for his back up in both cases.

Both teams made it to the playoffs

I'd do it again

Recently faced with the same dilemma -- Wagner or another SS like Appling in the same general range. I love the Wagner card, but hate the injury risk, and I really don't really like the 2e32 on Appling's card (too many errors). As I'm set to play in Connie Mack '57 (12 for RH homers, 1 for lefties) I opted to spend a little more money and pick up Alan Trammell at 8.24. In that park he rates just as well as Wagner at the plate and is only a 3 game injury risk. He may not be a 17 runner or AA, but is a 1e22. In a small ball park, though I might opt for Appling if he had some good defenders around him.

Wagner is now forecasted to miss 60 games!

In my latest use of Honus, every injury hit is for 8+ games each

He just took a 15 game vacation at Game 141
