Simmering...

My team just lost a 7 game semi-finals playoff series, but the way the bullpen was used was unreal. During the regular season, Sutter was lights out. He had over 40 saves in the 80M league and greatly contributed to the division title. Then in the 7 playoff games, even though I maintained (and even increased his roles), he pitched the grand total of 1 inning! Game 7 was a one run loss with the winning runs scored in the 7th and Sutter sat. Games 3, 4, and 5 were one run affairs and he pitched one inning! I had him set for middle relief (after he was used just one inning in the first 5 games), and late and behind (for game 7 only) , set up, closer, if tied and late, and if tied and extra innings. Is anyone else seeing similar bullpen use, or should I say, non-use? Very frustrating!

I realize you're just venting your frustrations here, and nothing I say after the fact can ease the pain - but there was a way to virtually guarantee Sutter would at least be called upon to pitch in the deciding games of the series. Set the Max IP/start for each starting pitcher at 7 ip in your Pitcher Prefs section. With the bullpen roles you indicated, Sutter will be HAL's first option out of the pen in the 8th and 9th inning.

Thanks for the advice Typhoon, appreciate it! I'm always looking for more ideas and strategies for the game. Something tells me that some programming was changed with the bullpen roles and something got messed up.

One might wonder why if HAL used Sutter well all season long why you started tweaking the settings in the final.
As Wash would say time to dance with the one who brung ya and just keep doing what you been doing all year.

Of course if you want guesses why Sutter was not used in the finals more might post links to all the games.

very good points everyone. however, i am noticing a lot of errors in the game play i never saw before. we are beta testers for the new site and we are paying to do so. so if you notice a pattern then let bernie or whom ever is programing the site know immediately.

Of course, I was being T.I.C. which does rhyme with a word that few may use to describe me anyway.
