What does "Rem. 4 Def.Sub" literally mean..."replace" for defensive sub ?

Hal seems to think this means remove player in the 8th and not the 9th. He does it all the time and that D replacement actually gets some AB's that way. I stopped this function for all my teams. I don't need Sam Thompson , hitting .356 for me , taken out of the game in the 8th for Busby's D and Busby hits in the 9th.

In fairness to the computer manager many real life managers make their defensive replacements in the 8th inning.

I would rather the sub come in , in the 9th for D only, after my regular has hit though. I'm sure you can understand that reasoning also.
