How many hits my SS allows even though he is a 1

T9 R. Alomar
6-2
gb(SS)x Single (SS)
1-2 b-1

It's gotta be more than 10%
Very frustrating

If you are holding a runner on base and a lefty is up, the shortstop has a 10% chance of a grounder resulting in a single.

You can check Sim Fielding on your team stats to see how many x-chances resulted in outs.

Also, you might be less stressed if you don't look at the play by play so close. ;) :)

Just had a game where a stud pitcher gave up 6 runs in the 7th on 10 of 11 hitter role. Then I looked at the first six innings - 18 of 24 rolls on pitcher cards....

The Sim Fielding is a nice addition for things like this. Danielz, can you post your Sim Fielding results for your shortstop?

I'm pretty much with Badjam on this. My own approach is to try construct teams that win by scoring a bunch more runs than they give up. If a team can do that, it will win more often than it loses, most of the time. The bigger the team's positive run differential, the more games it's likely to win.

Online Strat-O-matic lends itself to this kind of job-lot baseball. The quirks of how HAL manages or mismanages a team on a game by game basis, will, to my way of thinking, mostly even out.

If I sweated out the play-by-play, I'd likely go crazy.

I might add it is not just the play by play decisions of HAL that will drive you nuts. If you really follow your favorite real life team and disect all the decisions made by any given manager on a play by play basis you will go nuts.

Recent example is the final 2 games of the Rangers. I like Wash as a manager. But I disagreed with him using Holland out of the bullpen in the final game of the season and in the wild card playoff game. Felt one of the options more accustomed to relieving would be a better choice (Ross or Kirkman). Holland pitched poorly in both relief appearances.
