WORLD SERIES TRIVIA (New York, New York)

From 1949-1958, at least one New York team played in the World Series (6 of those were all-New York affairs).

What is the second longest streak for New York teams in the World Series? (hint: it's happened twice)

Hypothetically, how long would the 1949-1958 streak have run had certain teams not left New York in the late 50's?

What is the longest non-New York streak in the World Series? (my favorite group of years 8-) )

Without looking it up, I'm thinking the Yanks, Giants & Dodgers were in the WS 1949-1966.

I'm guessing 13 or 14 years for your favorite stretch. I remember the Yankees were solidly in first place in 1994 when the strike eliminated the World Series and that would have given them their first shot at a series in more than a dozen years.

Dont sleep on the 86 Mets, Tom...........

PJMB is right,...the Cards and Red Sox broke that "streak" in 1967.

First guess, but probably wrong: what about 1936-1943? The Yanks were in the World Series every year but 1940. Did the Dodgers win the Pennant in 1940? That would be 8 years. But I think maybe the Reds made the series in 1940, and I doubt there's another 8 year stretch anywhere to match it.

Second guess, and I think more likely: the Yanks were in the WS 5 years in a row between 1960 and 1964.

The matching one would be in the 1920s, from 1920-1924. Dodgers were in the WS in 1920, then Yanks & Giants in 1921-23. Giants I think played Washington in 1924. So that's 5 years, 1920 to 1924.

So I'm suggesting 1960-1964 (all Yanks) and 1920-1924 (Giants, Yanks & Dodgers). Of course, I may be missing something...

Second guesses are right, Outta Leftfield. The Reds and Tigers played WS in 1940, so First Guess was wrong.......
