Wacky Shutouts

PostFri Nov 23, 2012 8:29 pm

There have been two 9 inning shutouts in Major league history where the losing team left 16 baserunners.

Who were the two SP's for the winning teams?

Who were the two winning pitchers?

Hint: Dock Ellis was not involved in either game.

Don't know the answers to the above, but I once saw a game (a long time ago) in Griffith Stadium in which the Senators had 13 hits, 8 walks, one hit batter and the Tigers made 3 errors. Yet the only run Washington scored was a two-out, bases-empty homer by Eddie Yost in the bottom of the ninth. I think the Senators would have left more than 16 base runners and have been shut out if not for Yost's homer.
