New player card suggestions

To my surprise, not much has been said in this thread about candidates for the 200 new player cards to be added into the ATG 7 card set. I don't believe that the players and seasons of the new cards are written in stone, so I went back in the old TSN forums and found the new card thread created by Bernie H, which has 10 PAGES and 99 POSTS regarding suggestions for new player cards.

While I've read complaints in this forum about the lack of opportunity for input from the gaming community, it would be both difficult and foolish for SOM to ignore our card requests.

Below is the link to the TSN card request thread:

http://forum.onlinegames.strat-o-matic. ... 3&t=627694

In addition, there are another two pages of new card requests in a thread started by The Last Druid:

http://forum.onlinegames.strat-o-matic. ... 3&t=628784

Further, there's a 3 page "One Year Wonder" card request thread started by FRANKMANSUETO:

http://forum.onlinegames.strat-o-matic. ... 3&t=628517

Also, if you have any other suggestions for new cards, make them now, BEFORE ATG 7 is released, just in case anybody is listening.

I have been maintaining the list of requests over the last couple of years. Here they are:

Batters:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authkey=CPr8geoB&key=0AhbUd7KvVuIMdGpJMFpSVnFJTzBkTW14QzBtdjBKOXc&hl=en_US&authkey=CPr8geoB#gid=0

Pitchers:

Teams:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authkey=CJWWpZUG&key=0AhbUd7KvVuIMdDVaTXJBbEZFTFpBREt1T2xWelFPX1E&hl=en_US&authkey=CJWWpZUG#gid=0

A few notes. SITH: Significant Impact of Team History
BIP: Bill's Idiosyncratic Pick (I'm Bill. Some mid-level players who could be included to give different dimensions to the "deck")
BRC: Better Representative Card
SSR: Single-Season Record
TEAM: Member of Club on the Teams list (after all ATG got its start as a grouping of best teams)
HOF: Member of Hall of Fame, but whose card(s) we have now might not reflect greatness

All MVP winners, Aaron winners, Cy Young winners not in the set are on the lists.

If you have any other suggestions, put them in this thread. (two things I ask: check the lists before you name names to make sure it isn't already there and when you make a suggestion, try to be specific about years -- your idea of a good year and mine might be different) I'll get around to adding them as I find time.

I don't know if I was clear above. Any questions, let me know.

Bill

Thanks, Bill. I remembered that you had maintained such a list, but couldn't find it in the archive last night. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks Bill for showing the links to the lists which you've been keeping. It is reassuring to see that those requests are still under consideration for addition. I had made a few requests in the past but often didn't get much feedback about them. It warmed my heart to see that in reality the suggestions made have been looked at and considered. :) :geek:

I am just hoping some weight is given to players who either do not have cards, or players whose existing cards do not represent the better years of their careers.

I really do not want to see 3 more Mark McGwire cards...

You guys are almost certainly just spinning your wheels. If the release date is early next week, then they have already chosen the 200 additional players. Now maybe Bernie had some input from our past suggestion lists, maybe not. I am fairly confident though that they have no plans to share that information with the community, although now that I've brought up the point there might be an infinitesimal chance that it might get addressed in passing --but only if they are somehow interest in managing impressions with the community.

I guess the first question would be how they even plan to manage the process- b/c its been dropped for the past 8 months completely.
John G/Ber-nee havent mentioned anything about pricing other than the 4 guys that would change- so we are left with a great deal of speculation.

I do think Bill did an excellent job of maintaining the database that folks asked for; that doesnt mean the process of choosing players that would actually impact the game for us works nearly as well.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I forwarded the wishlist to the powers that be about 6 weeks ago just to make sure that they had something to work with when they decided to include new players.

Now who have they added.......

Bill

Then it should be real interesting how the 200 players we get compare to the request list.
