Thoughts on new cards

just scanning the new cards. Looking at the 4 replaced cards the contrast really brings home how inflated the old fantasim cards were.

Why did someone request the 1933 Dick Gyselman card?

From looking at the hitters briefly, I can't say I'm impressed with their choices. This is the first time I've seen a new iteration of ATG that made me question why they even bothered. Big thumbs down on this "upgrade."

Generally agree with the thumbs down with this batch of new cards. While some are certainly nice to finally have there seem to be way too many insignificant cards.

On Guyselman suppose Garrido, Etheridge, Shano Collins, and the immortal Jim Beauchamp needed someone to hang out with.

A bunch of these I wonder what was the point. And on a few others my first thought was how nice, a cheap version of the card to draft so one can swap out to the good one.

these cards suck. few upgrades, if any.

i would of preferred different years for a few more of the cards we already had.

Some of the cards will be useful but some like the newest Aaron make me wonder. Who is gonna ever draft that card? And he had so many good seasons to choose to add.

The injury crap remains. The new Milan card, played in 154 games, still gets injured??

For the 200M league crowd, it's a disappointing release, but I'll reserve judgment initially. A lot of very useful players for 80-100M leagues come from 3-6M, and there are a lot of additions in that range. Granted, many of them are duplicates, but it's hard not to duplicate with all the cards already in the set. I'll definitely take a few out for a test spin.

Time to get cracking on the community updating DiamondDope.

There are a ferw nice items in the card set. As far as "upgrades" to existing players go, there aren't that many available any more. Some interesting pitching from the 19th century added - if the cards match the prices they could be nice. But the last few new card batches have had wildly inconsistent pricing. And I have a soft spot in my heart for the new Nomo card - he was the ace of my staff in the first STAR tournament I entered. Lost in the WS and made some serious cash.

Glad to see Bill Dahlen given a good card, and nice cards for Pete Reiser, Jim Gentile, Jose Cruz, Joe Torre, Ginger Beaumont, and especially Wildfire Schulte. Some good additions to the modern set, too.
