Card Addition Poll

I have created a poll of 125 hitters cards that have appeared over the past 10 days or so on the boards. Please vote on them and I will get the responses back to you within a certain timeframe (how long would be good?). This way we can urge SOM to include cards that everyone wants. I can redo this every month or six weeks or two months. Whatever everybody thinks is a good distance. I know not every choice is there, but please give it a shot.

Let me know if you think this is a good or crummy idea. Or just a waste of time.

Bill

PS Most of the survey is in alphabetical order, but at the end I couldn't figure out how to sort and merge. So scroll down if you don't see a name you thought might be there. Also use this thread to include new suggestions for next time. Pitchers to come soon.

Thanks Bill! That was a cool poll.

Guys, before we start asking for all these 21st century cards (which can be played on 20xx), make sure we add a few cards from earlier eras that are not represented.

WHEN YOU VOTE, DONT FORGET THESE GUYS:
55 Al Kaline (batting title)
11 Sam Crawford (best Crawford card)
87 Andre Dawson (MVP and Cub card)
47 Bob Elliott (MVP)
75 Fred Lynn (MVP/ROY)
22 Rabbit Maranville
53 Al Rosen (MVP)
49 Vern Stephens (159 RBI shortstop)
44 or 48 Bobby Doerr
49 Ted Williams (Triple Crown)
51 Bobby Thomson (who picked all his cards, Ralph Branca? ?)
54 Hank Thompson (great NeL and Giant--not even represented)
10 Heinie Wagner
70 Carl Yastrzemski (good offensive card eligible in LF AND 1b)
50 Eddie Yost
63 Bobby Allison
55 Richie Ashburn
59 Jim Lemon (not even in set)

Great idea, Bill. I just hope I did it right so my vote counts. I agree that more cards of the earlier eras should be added.

When I finish the poll, I am taken to an advertisement page for the poll creators and can't get out. When I go back, all my results have disappeared. However, I checked very unimportant on all generic cards and important or very important on all pre-1900 and super-advanced cards. Very disappointed not to see one of Campy's MVP years of 1951 or 1955 even listed :( .

Campy's MVP years missing is a good point. I think we should get all the MVPs in the set before we add relative fringe players who happened to have one good year such as Luis Gonzalez.

Parker's 77 but better to have the MVP 78 season.

David Justice was a nice player but ATG? And why 91 which was a boring average season with a 15 game injury.
If we were going to get a card for Justice why not 93 or 97 when he was an all star?

If we are going to add a Lombardi card instead of 35 why not his MVP year of 38?

If a Pedroia card why not his MVP season of 2008 instead of 2011?

Jose Reyes: What happened to him as a basestealer? 64 SB in requested 2006 card and 78 for the 2007 card. Rickey Henderson once said he believed Reyes would be the next 100 SB guy. 11,30,39 and 40 last 4 years seems disappointing.

Gary Sheffield: a 500+ career HR guy would seem to warrant having one of his top HR seasons instead of 92. Perhaps 96 or 2000. Would lean toward the 96 year so the Marlins can be better represented in franchise leagues.

A big yes to thome 2002, top HR year for a 600+ HR guy.

Tim Jordan? Does someone think we need another nickel guy for 60 mil leagues?
