I haven't seen a post about adding the new cards to Diamond Dope. Has Adrian weighed in about this.

He said earlier that he wasn't sure he wanted to add the cards -- something about the mechanism for adding them being too cumbersome. But I'm sure people will be eager to pitch in and get it done. Diamonddope is invaluable, and it would be really nice to update it for ATG 7.

"Say it isn't so!"

Adrian, thank you for your YEARS of selfless service to the online gaming community. Through your yeoman efforts, my teams have been able to compete more effectively.

I'm surprised you hung in there so long after you "retired" last year.

You have filled a void left first by TSN and now SOM.

I've been to other online baseball sites and some show how players perform. I don't see why such data collection hasn't been done here, given all the other data that SOM tracks. In addition, I don't understand why SOM has failed to set up a card reader. It could only aid in the sale of the product.

Your fine work will be sorely missed by everyone who plays the game.

People you gotta know how to talk to Adrian to get him to do what you want.

Here's what you say if you want him to keep D.D. alive forever.

You tell him that before Diamond Dope the boards flourished with ATG chatter, and relationships were built through the constant asking and answering of questions on the experience or expected performances of any given player...It was a place of cooperation and "friendly competition" ...Silly Manager rating used as a transparent and cheap ploy to sell more teams took away a lot of the "friendly" in the competition...and Diamond Dope became a tool that all but eliminated the message boards being a communal for ATG talk.

Funnier still we ask for a card reader as if our eyes aren't good enough....Maybe we can hope Strat, or Adrian (if we want it done right) can help us press a certain button and have the computer automatically pick the best team for us from what's left on the free agent wire (of course after we let some other button draft our card for us)...No need to even glance at the cards with our own eyes, no need to ask or offer anything on the boards...and most importantly no thinking at all....where do I sign up. lol

Now Adrian gets pissed at me since I think his Diamond Dope was the down fall of everything in the Western civilization and he vows to continue forever if he's certain it will continue to bother Nev .

When was that? Pre-World War II?

Adrian, I came to the online game only a few years ago, and it took me several q and a's on the boards to find out about Diamond Dope, but once I discovered the site, I have used it (probably overused it) as a reference for every team since. I cannot imagine the amount of time and energy you have put in maintaining and updating the website, I'm sure it is substantial! I assume it was originally a labor of love, probably deteriorating into a total headache. Even so, I know it has been a terrific help to many of us with less Strat smarts. Please consider the invaluable help you have lent, and continue to lend us by keeping it functional and up to date. Will Strat go on without it...yea, but a significant part of what the online game has become will no longer be there. From one extremely grateful user, thank you so much, Mike.

To put things in proper perspective, there are costs in terms of his valuable time and resources (possible hosting costs). He has a link for donations and I know that I dropped some dimes in there a couple of times. A lot of us did. While I'm thinking about it, I should do it again. We all should. This is the best way to show our appreciation. If for nothing else than getting the new cards put in the live draft which he has already done.

We stand a greater chance of getting his time if we show our appreciation that way - and for many of you - AGAIN.
