My ATG Experiment

PostWed Jan 09, 2013 1:06 am

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/811678

I just won a championship with this squad. :D
It was in a$70 league.
All 1's on defense AND ALL + clutch.

15 clutch opps for the entire season. 15 hits, 0 outs.

Nice when it all comes together like this... 8-)

I thought the experiment might be buying another team and seeing if you actually received it.

That would be a miracle not an experiment...

I went back to a few 20XX teams, and obviously you can't get an ALL + CLUTCH squad...

But it looks like + comes into play 13-18 times during the course of a season.

And having so many + clutch guys will keep rallys going for you which could win you a few more games.

All 1's on defense AND ALL + clutch.

Perhaps the next experiment should be an all - clutch team.
Would it be going too far to be all 4s on defense and - clutch?

It is a shame that we cannot sort by clutch. Might be interesting to build a team with all high + or - clutch. But do I want to go to trouble of separating out the players?

How do you know they are +clutch? By reviewing the individual cards?

It looks like a well thought out team concept!

"It is a shame that we cannot sort by clutch"

I asked for this awhile back. Didn't get any feedback. I can't see how difficult it would be, since we can sort by 2B' s or 3B's. We should be able to sort by + clutch.

"How do you know they are +clutch?"

Yes, by reviewing all the cards. I sorted by position 1st. The scanned down to see who was +.

I know guys like to use + clutch in the 5 and 7 hole.

The 6,7 & 8 guys in the lineup (Delahanty, Gardner and Kling) all led the team with 3 hits a piece in clutch situations.

I even had a few + hits from my backups.

I went and downloaded the spreadsheet from diamond dope. It has a column for clutch. I think I can manipulate/sort that to give me the worst clutch for each position. Just may be entering a team soon with nothing but negative clutch and see what happens.
