15x15 yahoo fantasy league

PostThu Mar 21, 2013 4:26 pm

Several years back I started a fantasy baseball league on yahoo. Several unique things about this league.
it is populated only with current or former forum board posters.
Instead of just 5 offensive and 5 pitching stats it uses 15 pitching stats and 15 offensive/defensive stats.
So not like many leagues where value of a player is just his fantasy counting numbers. This one includes stats that make any good player useful.
Each team roster has 30 players. So not just the superstars are useful.

This year we had a number who did not rejoin so have several openings. An autodraft will be scheduled for some time next week. So if you are interested

In order to join the league, follow the link above or go to game front page, click the "Sign Up Now" or "Get Another Team" button and follow the links to "Join a Custom League". When prompted, enter the League ID# and password below.

Valen, I joined the league this morning. Sounded interesting and a bit of a challange.

When do you expect the draft to take place?

Sent out a league email this morning. I am planning on marking league ready for draft Tuesday. So it will run some time that night. Not sure about time. They are not as consistent as Strato leagues. But results should definitely be known by the time you get up Wednesday morning. That should give us 3 days to talk trade and tweak teams.

I really like this format. The extra stats recognizes the value a player brings to the table via defense or bunting skills. And pitchers who get the job done by inducing double plays instead of strikeouts has value. Tough part about the expanded number of stat categories is deciding just which ones to select. There are some 30 or so categories yahoo gives the commish to choose from. The ones we have now are kind of what we have arrived at over the years as participants have lobbied for changes.

The expanded rosters get more players in the league so your knowledge of who is good is tested beyond just who are the standard fantasy league superstars. For example with the 9 teams we have at the moment there will be 18 of the 30 starting catchers who will end up on one of our rosters. That is over half.

13 is the most we have had. I think we had 12 last year. Since each team carries 2 catchers, etc. this will mean we basically will make use of all players in baseball who are regular players. :D That really tests your knowledge of the entire game. Gotta know a lot more than just what you see on sportscenter.
