Thoughtful team critique please

PostMon May 27, 2013 4:23 pm

This squad is frustrating me greatly. it is a 24 team all AL league with 80K cap.
My team is in Yankee '71 (8,2,12,1) and at the half way point I think they may be destined to finish 20+ games back

I would like opinions on if the team build, but also changes that should have been considered to bring the team up to snuff.

I'm thinking the 9-22 record in 1 run games at this point obviously hurts, but perhaps there is a fatal flaw I am just not seeing. I like the run differential...but can't blame it all on the RP as the RP with all the innings have good ERAs and WHIP for the league.

The thing that stuck out when I looked was your starting pitching. For the most part I like them but not in a LH'ed park. Lefthanded starting pitchers would have made all platoons and SH'ers bat right handed. Your park kills righties.

I agree with jet. One thing I've done in the past in LH parks (havent played a lot of LH parks in a while), similar to what you did, is get one SP* and mix around 4 cheaper non* SPs. Many times I would use a RHP as the SP* who was either E or maybe L1-L2 (like a Clemens) and mix him with 4 cheaper non* SPs who fit my park. That way my stud SP* is pitching often and strong in most away parks as well. Klippstein, Moret, cheap Dravecky, etc would have all taken better advantage of your park, which simply crushes RH batters

I also noticed 22mil tied up in just Oscar & Turkey, they're doing well but not lighting things up as one might expect a 12mil & 10mil guy to do in an 80mil league, no?

Spreading that cash around a bit more balances out that line up some, no?

Also looks like just some bad luck being in the division with the league's top team, otherwise you're only 5-6 back from the other division leaders.

thanks for your thoughts.
Not sure there is much to do to salvage the season.....so I'll just have to start a new team. :ugeek:
