it seems like every month i am doing this thread.....so post em, i want to see the volume of bs playoff results in this game because even now i am skeptical on its legitimacy, a board game player since the 80s, computer player since the 90s......

this is just getting ridiculous, i wish i had the time to go through and paste all of the examples i am talking about, but here is the latest playoff bull s$%^ result

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/league/329267

100 wins, 94 wins......lose to 89 and 87 win teams in the worst divisions i have ever seen. one was -132 in run dif the other -94.

and oh yeah i was up 3-0 game 7, gave up 1 in the 7, 1 in the 8, 2 in the 9th.....like it was part of some computer program

this after consecutive weeks of being up 3-1 in the finals in different leagues, and yep you guessed it, lost both finals. a month after my 113 win team from the 80s set got swept first round and oh yeah cant forget about the ATG 7 140 mil team a couple of weeks ago that went 106-56, 4- 20 game winners, sub 4 team era, scored 1100 runs......playoffs, lose 63-12 in 4 games....????

You missed my point entirely. You're implying the game is rigged because the best team often loses in the playoffs.

did i say rigged? did i say anything about a random real life series that literally has zero impact on the strat game? I said i am getting more and more skeptical about the "true randomness" from this computer game.

this post was for those players i keep hearing from with stories of multiple bs playoff series results..... post it or move on

a month ago someone posted a "up 3-1 playoff series lost" that i believe was deleted because of accusations to a particular player "hacking" the code.. statistics are a big part of this game, i want to find out the % of those teams who have had playoff busts versus those series that were not. because it is either a very vocal few, or there really are better than 50% of all playoff series ending like this....

my numbers, far more playoff wins with mediocre teams than with great teams. not teams judged by just wins, but teams that lead the league in scoring and pitching yet get smashed in the first round

I used to think the game was rigged to a certain extent - it seemed that whenever a bought a team my other active teams were rewarded with successful seasons and whenever I was playing on credits, my teams did not make the playoffs. I figured it's a business after all and what greater incentive than to see your dollars work positively. There are endless conspiracy theories out there but that's just the nature of the game. My favorite is that the wild card teams in ATG tended to win the rings (I like that one as most of the rings I have has been as 85-89 win wild card teams, hardly ever a 95+ win team) But really the playoffs are just a small sample size - you either get the rolls or you don't. The game has it's flaws, but that's the way the game is - it can be unrealistic at times just like the 100 win team that has Kratz hitting 41 HR's, Chase Headley 50 HR,s & Ruggiano 39

That stuff can be explained through pro-rated stats, BP HR's etc.....some of the other stuff is indeed very strange bordering outside the realm of randomness.

And strat shouldn't be compared to real life because the game here is based off of a pre-determined set of numbers where as real life it's not...

Your team cited above had a run differential of +47 - and lost the playoff round to a team with a run differential of +93 - not that unusual. The guy that should be moaning is the manager in the same league that had a run differential of +232 and lost his semi round to a team that was +15. Now that hurts!! I think these "upsets" in the playoffs are just the effect of small sample size.

This gets my vote as the most ridiculous post in quite some time.

The team that wins the most games in the regular season loses in the playoffs? Never happens.
