Deacon WhiteI had no idea that he is credited as the first player to get a hit in a professional baseball league.

In 1878, the Indianapolis Journal reported that an umpire had gone so far as consulting with Deacon before decreeing that a base runner was out. When the opponent complained, the ump replied that when “White says a thing is so it is so, and that is the end of it.”

saw where strat is releasing a new HOF card set including deacon white. wish strat would include his brother. go look him up on baseball -reference.com under William White. here's a teaser. one year, not his best, he pitched 75 complete games!
