NEW - Unique Stadium + 2 FRANCHISE players - CLOSED THANKS

I've never run a private league before, but as I come up on my one year anniversary of playing here on line I was considering starting a new Unique Stadium 4 Season League....more to come...details for the league can be hashed out privately once we get our 12 owners in a private league chat.

Here's the crux...We'll randomly determine draft order then each owner will draft ONE FRANCHISE HITTER or PITCHER and then during the 2nd round MUST draft ONE FRANCHISE HITTER OR PITCHER from the same FRANCHISE, they may or may not be from the same ERA...the Unique Stadium MUST be from the same Franchise and be selected along with the first round pick...The stadium + FRANCHISE HITTER + FRANCHISE PITCHER must be used in ALL seasons for the league and can NEVER be traded and/or dropped!

The 2 rounds will be run in SNAKE order...Here's the catch, If someone drafts Babe, another owner could take Gehrig, but they would have to each DRAFT unique New York Yankee Stadiums....example with the 3rd pick Owner "C" takes Babe and takes the Yankee '48 and with the 11th pick owner "Y" takes Gehrig and takes the Yankee '71...owner"Y" would then need to pick a Yankee pitcher from ANY era as his second pick and then the Ruth owner would have to take another Yankee pitcher with his second pick...I hope that's clear as mud.

For subsequent seasons there would be no protect lists other than everyone would know the FRANCHISE HITTER AND PITCHER and STADIUM in advance of the drafts of all the other owners....some strategy and yet there would be RANDOM divisions, so you can never be sure who's gonna be in your division from league to league ;-)

If you want Bonds in Pittsburgh then you have to pick a Pirates pittcher in the second round and play in a Pittsburgh park....if you get Bonds in SF then a SF pitcher + SF stadium...when you pick your 2 FRANCHISE players you are LOCKED into that year for the card, no swapping from year to year.

The four RANDOM DIVISION seasons to be played would be
Season #1 - $105 DH
Season #2 - $135 DH
Season #3 - $125 no DH
Season #4 - $115 DH

This will require a 4 season commitment over about 8 to 9 months....

Does NEL count as a franchise?

Sounds intriguing!

I'm interested also in the answer to Frank's question; I'm also surmising that there is no limit to players used from one franchise, e.g. the draft could see four Yankees pairs drafted as long as separate stadia are selected?

To clarify, once we've drafted the 2 franchise players + Stadium, then I will go to private league and start the league, everyone knows to list their 2 FRANCHISE PLAYERS #24 AND #25 ON THEIR CARDS, since no one else can draft them and use their stadium...each owner will do this for ALL 4 leagues, with each league starting about every 2 months or so.

Not sure how to handle NEL...I'm open to suggestions, with the pitching options not sure if someone would take an NEL player as a franchise player, but I'm easy either way...the way I have it structured, If you take an NEL hitter then you must take an NEL pitcher (yuk) to use in ALL 4 leagues, you can't ever dump or trade the pitcher and if another owner wanted to do draft another NEL hitter as their FRANCHISE guy, then you would still have to draft a UNIQUE NeL stadium from one another, first person drafting picks the stadium, second NeL guy would get pick of NeL pitchers since it's SNAKE...is that clearer than mud? Let me know if I can make things muddier ;-)

one more thing, the FRANCHISE is only for the 1 hitter + 1 pitcher + stadium, beyond that everyone is free game in the draft, no restrictions...nobody would hold any other rights over any other players beyond that initial mini draft in any of the 4 leagues.

Just so I understand this... let's use the Yankees again as an example; The team with the first pick selects Ruth in round one. It must do so knowing that with every other Yankee taken in round one his pitcher selection gets lower. So, if Mantle, Gehrig and DiMaggio also get drafted, the Ruth owner will get the 4th pick of Yankee pitchers.

A couple of questions:

1. Just want to clarify that pitcher does not necessarily mean Starting Pitcher. Somebody could take Mariano Rivera and satisfy the franchise pitcher requirement?

2. Is a franchise that moved still considered one franchise? For example, taking the hitter/pitcher from a combination of Atlanta/Milwaukee Braves, Brooklyn/LA Dodgers, etc. is still valid?

Thanks,
