The Ball State Carinals

Trying out a comparison based on Nev's question on the RF. Starting an entire team in Fenway '67 with no starter with better than a "3" in defense. Will later try the same with a small ball team in Griffith. Overall am attempting to win as much as possible. Will try to get as much out of Babe Adams as a rest for Dale Murray who I hope to pitch 300+ innings. The pitching staff is very likely to get abused, but will be going for late inning defensive changes to try and hold leads. How many wins do you think this team will get?

i'm in his league but a different division. crazy thing is all his division opponents have poor fielding teams and a strange mix of hitters and pitchers. none of the teams have an obvious park theme or slant so it will be interesting. a little more detail. some of the power parks have single hitters in the lineup and sps with prime #hrs on their cards. another team's highest paid sp is $1.38 and the highest rp is $2.38 but he's loaded with lumber. oh, by the way you misspelt urinal.

Given the context that Scorehouse has mentioned for your division, at 80m cap you are playing at, I think you will win about 85-90 games. At 100m, though you would definitely lose about 90 games. Your division mates appear to have no clear cut strategy.

It will be interesting, Jethro's Probies appears to me to be the favorite in my division, there is better defense and pitching than mine while still having a pretty strong offensive small ball team. I have never played with defense approaching this level of ineptitude, usually I would be all over the top defensive fielders. I will track and give updates on how the runs are being effected.

Effected means executed, produced, or brought about. For example, The dictatorial regime quickly effected changes to the constitution that restricted the freedom of the people. On the other hand, affected means impacted. It is the past tense of the verb form of affect means to impact. For example, Carbon di-oxide emissions affected the environment

So my meaning was to say I will track and give updates on how the runs are being produced, in other words are they allowing a greater freedom of movement to my competition's base runners.

OK for those that would like to follow along with this poor defensive team ( my guess is 75 wins)
Here are the Team settings:

Team Strategy
Base Running : Normal
Base Stealing: Extra Conservative
Closer Usage: Regular
Relief Usage: Aggressive
Bunting: Normal
Hit and Run: Conservative
Intentional Walk: Normal
Infield In: : 5th Inning
Pinch Hitter vs Lefty: Gene Clines
Pinch Hitter vs Right: Ty Cline
Pinch Runner: Brett Butler

Defensive Replacements ( I used the up the middle of the field as my choices)
Shortstop: Bobby Wine
Centerfield: Brett Butler
Catcher: Mickey O'Neil
Second Base: Ski Melilo

The first series is in and started on the road, already there has been one substitution issue as Ski pinch hit for the pitcher and rather having him stay in and play 2nd Base Hal brought in Gene Clines as defensive substitute at 2nd base but there was no impact in the game. Another game HAL did pinch run with Brett Butler brought him in to CF and moved Sammy to RF for Manny a very good move.

All three games were extra innings, a tough start for my pitching staff and not good for the makeup of my team and unsurprisingly I lost 2 of those 3 on the road. A total of 5 unearned runs given up so far. I gave up 21 X chances for the 3 games 16 by the starting lineup, 4 by my defensive substitutions and 1 by my pitching staff. The defensive subs were 4 chances 4 outs. The starting lineup was 16 chances 2 errors and 4 singles given up, the pitchers were perfect. Overall the opposition had 28.5% of their Xchances result in a baserunner for the 3 games.

Dale Murray was brought into all three games and Babe Adams started one and got the save in the only game I won (no decision in the first game which went 13 innings. I should have thought of a defensive sub for Hank Greenburg.
