Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

How did the $5.36 Wilhelm give up the winning run on a walk-off hit on 6-3 when he does not have a hit chance on 6-3 on either side and the play was not a (x) chance? Can someone please explain. Thanks.

It wasn't on the pitchers card but on the hitters card

The dice roll for the winning hit was 6-3. That is 100% a roll on the pitcher's card.

6-3 on Wilhelm's card is LF(x).

I see that now Bill. Thanks for pointing that out. I made my initial post from the dice rolls and not the card. As you know though, all (x) rolls are indicated in the results as is the roll just before for p(x). The winning hit roll should have indicated it was a lf(x) but it did not. Hence, my querry because Chick Hafey is my LF and I just checked his fielding totals to date and he is 4 for 4 on fielding chances. So how could this have possibly been a lf(x) hit then?

Bases loaded, one out, late in the game. Were the outfielders in close to prevent a run from scoring on a short fly?

The infielders were back for a double play and he missed the TAG!!!!

I just got this reply from Strat:

Hi Michael,

With the winning run on third base and less than two out, the computer manager brought the outfield in to give it a better chance at throwing out a runner that could have tagged to score. The consequence of doing that is all readings that would have automatically scored the runner on a sac fly (and ending the game anyway) get changed to a single instead of a sac fly as the ball was hit over the outfielder's head. The reading did not show as a FLY-X as the fielder was not penalized for missing an X-Chance when with the outfield playing at normal depth he would not have.

I had no idea the outfield could even be brought in like that. I always thought it was just the infield as reflected in the team settings. This is why Strat MUST post somewhere exactly what rules are in effect for the online version of their game.

I recently had a similar play in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game 7 of the finals.

In that instance, it wasn't an (x) chance, but it was a BP-HR roll. The game was in Griffith 24, with a BP-HR rating of 0, so normally it should have automatically been an out -- but instead, it was a series-winning single.
