Just played my first full season in two different leagues, and don't much care for this game.
In both leagues, winning teams loaded their teams with power hitters into power parks, spent little on pitching, and just bludgoened their way into the post season. That just turns Strat O Matic into a video game. The top home run hitters were all over 90 HRs for the season. Stupid, and completely unrealistic. Pitching, defense, hitting for average, and running the bases become irrelevant.
A joke, really

Start a theme league with hitters under $2M.
Play $60M with no theme, my favorite.
Are the teams you mention $200M ?, That could be why you didn't like it, it's an All Star at every position, and not a good place to start.
Good luck.

That does sound like numbers from a high cap league.
You don't even need to go as low as 60 mil for a "more realistic" experience. Looked back at an 80 mil no-DH league I finished not too long ago. League leaders were at .384 (Cobb), 62 hr (Matt Williams) and 157 rbi (Ott). Alexander had 25 wins and the top 5 era were at 2.08 and below. In other words, it was a league with a good balance of players and teams.

play the 60's game. scoring is way down. pitching galore, speed players and bad fielding catchers pool. 4-3, 2-1, games are the norm. just put 4 teams in the playoffs with a team average BA of .270 and an ERA 3.35

unimpressed by a rookie owner complaining without providing details.

Yep. At least provide a link to one's own team and league for the sake of effect. I've unfortunately built a team in 140mil that couldn't hit s.hit, and I spent 90mil on hitting alone.
This game is a process, that doesn't mean you'll end up liking it, but to judge it without going through the process is intellectually dishonest.

ATG is supposed to be realistic? A guy from 1896 facing a pitcher from 1988?

LOL, never even looked at it that way. Not to mention that guy from 1896 facing 9 guys in a row that hit 55 HRs in one year.

Then I guess we shouldn't care if Babe Ruth hit .188 and Ernie Andres hit 77 Home Runs playing for the same team.
