I won a game 24-5 last night and the summary highlights Josh Gibson's four hits and 5 RBIs - certainly reasonable - and also mentions both starting pitchers in the three paragraph summary. Somehow, Al Simmons seven hit night with five runs scored never gets a mention! Poor Al can't get a break!

Beltran's walk-off sends Cardinals past Dodgers in 13th
CBSSports.com wire reports
Oct. 12, 2013

ST. LOUIS -- Carlos Beltran kept protesting that he's just one player.

Albeit a pretty special one in October.

"Understand this is not about me," Beltran said. "In order for a team to win a ballgame, a lot of things need to happen right, the right way. We have to pitch, we have to play defense, and we have to come through offensively."
Scott Miller
Cards neutralize Greinke, earn big game 1 win

Beltran had the last two covered like a blanket in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series Friday night, giving the St. Louis Cardinals his latest scintillating postseason performance in a 13-inning, 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I imagine you do prefer it, Doc! You deserve it; I forgive your Cards for taking out my beloved Buccos! I never thought they would break .500, so playoffs were a bonus! Cards and their fans are a classy combo.

nothing bad to say about the Bucs. They had a great season and are likely to remain a very big player for years to come.

...'nother great Cards game today. BIG pitching and now I have no fingernails left. :)

Ditto that!

And I like the little post-script the commentators add to Michael Wacha's performances each time out: "Oh incidentally, Michael Wacha was the player the Cardinals chose in the Albert Pujols compensatory draft in 2011."

"Albert! You coulda been a contendah!"
