Trying MM again. Not sure I really need Murray.
Thoughts and suggestions always welcome.
Thanks in advance

only 4 lefty SP so far in division
Hilltop
Comiskey '60
Petco
Drop Murray and upgrade Simmons and Aaron?
Run the pitchers until their arms fall off and don't worry too much about relief?

That team will get killed.
You need to replace Higbe with a 3R or so starter in the same price range. He's an S6* and you effectively have no bullpen, if you're going with that strategy, you need S8* and S9* starters. Look at Ray Caldwell or Dizzy Dismukes.
Mungo is also not optimal. Look at Ray Brown - he's cheaper, probably better, and can really hit.
Score will probably work out fine, but I'd want an S9* as my #1 - look at Early Wynn, Ted Lyons, Bob Lemon, or Amos Rusie.
Boone is fine, but you might look at Rickey Ferrell.
Cepeda doesn't seem best to me - look at the little Gil Hodges or Tony Perez, or even some of the little McGwire cards.
Cal is a horrible choice at 3B. Get the little Killebrew - half the injury risk and twice the card.
I'd get a real SS. A lot of people like Eddie Miller, I like the Templeton-Versalles platoon. In MM, you might even just think of running Templeton out there against all comers.
Rather than playing Simmons in CF and Rickey in LF, I'd use Mays 54 or Willard Brown in CF. Others like Bobby Bonds or Jimmy Wynn out there.
There are other options in RF, although that Aaron card is a pretty good value.
You'll still have money left over - I'd spend it on a solid reliever who is R3 or better.

I'll respectfully disagree with rburgh on a couple points:
- Higbe can have a place as a #4 SP, but if you're going with the superreliever strategy with Murray, you need better 1-3 SPs, or you will find your bottom barrel relievers other than Murray getting too much work
- Ripken is a regular on my teams at 3b up to 100M cap, and I think he's a perfect MM candidate. In my last 7 teams with Cal, he's averaged .300/.329/.517, with 40+ doubles and 20+ HRs per season average. Hard to find that kind of production for under 4M. Granted, his injury status is a problem (average 540 PAs / yr), but I use the .87 Fregosi as his backup, a similar no-glove heavy hit value. To me, Cal is the perfect #6/7 hitter in a loaded lineup.

Thanks.
I am using your no glove and who cares about injuries strategy on my first MM team ($100) and they are currently 26 over .500. after 114 games.
http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1118080On my first team, Cal is currently .305 .330 .470 with 10 HR and 23 2B in 300 AB. Fregosi is at .275 .359 .457 with 8 HR filling in for him. My other team has 4 stud pitchers and no pen at all.
