Predictions? -- End of season update

PostSun Feb 23, 2014 2:05 pm

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1124914

First live draft, first unlimited salary team, only made one "panic pick" as the clock ran out. Didn't get a solid enough pen.

100 losses, or a chance at .500 ?

A minute Maid in division and another non-division, others a mix of even and left leaning stadiums.

Thanks.

I don't think Valentine will be much use. I'd go for a higher OB guy like Salmon, Evans or Rap Dixon

I'm FAR from an expert. Just starting to get into these high cap leagues myself, but I think it looks like a good team.

Question about third base. Why not use Matthews' bigger card and platoon him with Brosius/Matt Willams?

Matt Williams got draftedelsewhere, I think you mean Bros/Mathews? I'll look at the other Mathews card again, but it looked similar vs RHP and dead vs lefites at first glance.

disclaimer* I have never played this cap and did not so much like the only uncapped live draft league I entered.

That said, you have some ability to maximize your team here and pitching will be a problem-

SP suggestion #1 - Use Pedro every series - start his 9.28 card series 1 game 1, start his 10.54 card series 2 game 1 and alternate all year. - (cost for the 47 trades prior to the game 141 cutoff will be about 200k in a 5-10-20 league, closer to 400k in a 20% league)...make sure you get the Pedro you want prior to game 142.

SP suggestion #2 - a guy like Matlock will never play...why waste the roster spot.

RP suggestion - IF better than Mellie Wolfgang is available - get him...with this kind of cap RP will get some innings...so you want every RP to be fantastic.

Warning - Bennett will get used vs RH bats if he is on your bench...and that may not be such a great thing. (a very expensive SP/RP with similar stats may be better ----- Mike Caldwell, John Donaldson for example

Why not Jeter and Mathews' very best cards?

Have fun with it!

Thanks guys. Was over thinking Mathews, and don't need him to be strong V LHP with Brosius.
Jeter's 2nd card is better vs LHP, plan to have him hit 2nd. The expensive card is a dead spot vs LHP.
