Dazed and confused

PostWed Apr 23, 2014 5:25 pm

I am taking it that I really don't understand a situation and that it can be explained easily. This outcome actually did not effect the game but easily could. In the 8th inning Roger Connor rolled a 2-9 against SGT Schultz which should be a Homerun 1-10, Double++ 11-20, instead it was a ground out.
How the heck is that? Figuring out Hal can be enough of a challenge but if I cannot figure out what is suppose to be there but isn't- well dunno what quite to think about that one. Oh this not the first time this has come up where what is on the card does not actually happen when it is rolled.
So could someone help me out here.

I have to assume this was the "guarding the lines" play. It will turn some doubles into outs, but also greatly increases the chance of that batter getting on base

Steve F could be correct but also each time this has happened in the past and contacted Strat, they replied that it was a display issue. In other words the dice roll displayed was incorrect but the result is correct. That is their story and they stick to it.

Well that display thing still keeps things at a mystery. Now ya seez it, Nowz ya don't- does not sound like a typical explanation for how a product works. If anybody is in business I would not recommend that.
The other one kinda makes sense but no so much. Guarding the lines when it was a initial chance for a Homerun and ends up a groundout... Eh.
Anyways it is a great game but I think that it does make sense that we do know how it operates.
Thank you for the responses

I've been behind the curtain and none of them are sure how some of this stuff works...Not saying this is one of those instances, they might have a right answer here. But there are things they don't know and honestly and sadly no one behind the curtain either can or cares enough to find out.

I'll never understand how "guarding the line" would impact a flyball headed for the bleachers

Exactly. This is one feature that needs to go away. I'd throw bunting for a base hit in there too

I thought about this off and on all day yesterday. The best I can come up with is what if the home run was going to be an inside the park home run. No flyball just a ball down the line that was fielded for whatever reason preventing a double or inside the park home run?

This is a great question for SOM to address

We've all assumed how SOM set the games decision engine (super advance, ball girl vs bat boy, ball park effects, guarding the lines) -it would be nice to understand what is truly at play day-in and day-out.
