Again, the ATG community and Strat hit a home run as to having these players available with at least one of their 'best' years represented.

With the following exceptions- who lack representation of when they were the 'best' at their positions

Butler
Strawberry
A. Jones
Magee
Alley
Fletcher
Dauber
Magee
Groh (only 1920); he was the best 8 times
Garvey
Cooper

Added Strawberry and Fletcher to the wish list as per your wishes. Everyone else had at least one of your "years" on the wish list.

Interestingly , Garvey's best year was 77, when he hit 33 HR's mainly because Lasorda told him to knock the ball out of the park even if it meant not getting his 200 hits. He even managed to hit into a few less double plays :D

Thank you Bill, what an unexpected and welcome surprise.

I was actually looking ahead to ATG 9(as ATG 8 is already upon us). I've never really payed much attention to what players were in (other than Irish Meusel) the player pool, I usually just took things as they were. However, doing this has gotten me thinking about what players could be added and why.

1. I know this game originally was filled with players from the greatest teams of all time. I think there is still some action left in that format.
Allowing for player deletion due to redundancy, shouldn't all pennant and 100 game winners be included?

2. Using the individual ATG approach yields other questions. Again, allowing for player deletion due to redundancy, why don't we have the cards of every MVP and Cy Young award winner?

3. Also, assuming the above list and it's AL counterpart has validity, shouldn't all players with multiple great years have multiple cards?

4. Combining the ideas of #'s 1 and 3. Would it be possible to have an all-star team from every year. A tournament pitting all 226 all-star teams against one another sounds really appealing.

@ Steve. I was really surprised Garvey's '77 year wasn't one of his 4 'top ranked'. The Dodgers were such a beast that year and Garvey always seemed the heart of that monster.

You're welcome. Though being on the wish list doesn't necessarily guarantee an addition to ATG8 (though every addition will probably come from the wish list).

A number of the players on the wish list come from a "greatest teams" list (from 1900 to 2010 best team by blocks of 22 years -- 1901-1922, 1923-1944, 1945-1966, 1967-1988, 1989-2010) Here's the link:

(years struckthrough have been added to the wish list)

Pennant winners might be good, except that we would have a MASSIVE amount of Yankees and very few Cubs, Senators and Browns. Spread the wealth...

All Cy Young and MVP winners are on the wish list as are all the Aaron award winners.

Just for memory, here is the pitchers' wish list:

And the batters' wish list:

Nice work!

Very true about the pennant winners. The wealth should definitely be spread evenly.

I think you can cross the '75 Reds off the list. If I recall correctly, they were one of the original teams in ATG and I seem to see their players around..

What do the colors mean?

They correspond to the various surveys we have taken over the past couple of years. Red is a card definitely worth thinking about adding; yellow the next step down; light blue next; dark blue followed by violet. I'll probably set up a new survey in a few months after the new cards have been digested.
