Who are some of your favorite SS bargains for a 100 million dollar cap? Are any of the Yount or Trammell cards worth using in a singles ballpark? How do those players compare to say a Pop Loyd or some of the others in that price range?... Thanks for any comments! :D

Appling, Dahlen and Garciaparra are always popular. Going cheaper, Bowa has been priced very nicely as a bargain for ATG8. Bush and Templeton, though not my favorites....

I don't think I'd throw the extra $$ at Yount or Trammell for a singles park.

Thanks for the advice Andy. I think Nevdully scooped up the more expensive Bowa card and I think someone else grabbed Nomar.. Appling's errors kind of scare me. The second most expensive Yount SS card is not real reliant on ballpark HRs the way the expensive Trammell card is.

Appling. Get a "1' at 2b and don't be afraid. :o

Larkin's 3R works well depending on the amount of LHP you will see..

His defense frightens many, but Maury Wills has been useful, even at 100 mil caps; I've both used him there and watched other squads in my divisions play him. He's worth at least a look, since he'd free up some cash for an upgrade elsewhere.

One cheap card that I've used with some success even in 100M is Tony Fernandez 2.66M. He is a 1e33, which is a lot of errors, but with good range and a very decent bat for the price. Plus, he's bulletproof. Personally, I prefer him to Wills for similar money--same errors, but Tony is a 1 instead of a 2, and he has a little more offense (though less speed.)

If you go cheap at SS, make sure to get good value somewhere else with the money you save. But Appling is also a good choice. And many like the Wagner 7.98M card in small ball parks. In Honus's case, you get a better glove, but have to deal with a significant injury risk. Both Wagner & Appling will hit well in small-ball parks.

But then Fernandez or Wills are bulletproof and you get 5M to spend somewhere else. Or, you can get fewer errors for your 2.5M as SS but pretty much give up on offense.

It's really all a matter of trade-offs. If you get value for money all along the line, the wins will often take care of themselves.

I am really enjoying this advice. I like the cheaper Larkin card. .... I know I advertised this as help for a new player but I am really only new to ATG and I actually have played that just not in a long time. It is great to hear from you guys. Tony Fernandez is interesting and I believe injury proof...??
