zero stolen bases

PostSun Aug 03, 2014 8:53 am

Team in my league won 100 games and had +315 run differential. Weird thing is team did not attempt any stolen bases all season. How is that even possible? I assume steal setting was at extra conservative. But the team did have basestealers. Is this a standard strategy?

I haven't seen it done... But setting wise, would hafta be something like extra conservative for the team settings, and, for each hitter, you would hafta check do no steal...

If, as your saying the team had a few speedsters, I would assume the base running, would have been set to more aggressive.

Its just the current fad of the moment, where there are a group of players who build a team with the most bang for your buck, or, in other words... screw defense.

Its a great strategy at the moment that worked extremely well.

I ended up beating the no-stealing team in 7 games in the semi-finals. Now I'm playing a squad that runs like crazy in the finals..377 steals on the season. So, all kinds.

What kind of park was it? If I put together a Bomber team with power up and down my lineup, I don't want guys getting thrown out stealing in front of hitters who can score them with one swing of the bat.

I'm not an expert and have no championships. I have had teams with a lot of HR guys so I set all hitters to no steal. I don't want them getting thrown out. I want base runners for the HR's. Think about the Sparky Anderson way, play for the 3 run homer.

I think Earl Weaver was the manager touting the 3 run homer - "pitching, defense and the 3 run homer". Sparky had Joe Morgan and other base stealers in the line-up.

I was thinking when Sparky was at Detroit.

if you don't want steals you also have to set your hit and run to extra conservative and your bunting both in tesam strategy and in hitter prefs

Forbes' 65. No power hitters at all. Had seven guys with steal ratings of B or better. Lotta left-handed AVG and OB.
