For you Diamond Dope users, if you want to see all the new cards in DD, here's my checklist for getting them in.
HOW TO UPDATE CARDS IN DIAMOND DOPE
1. Open Diamond Dope
2. Click on “Let’s add cards to ATG 8” up there under the mound.
3. Find a worthwhile player, i.e., a high priced one that isn’t listed as “pending”.
1920 Jose Mendez $5.30 looks interesting , so I’ll use his card, tho’ he won’t be there when you look at the list.
4. Open Strat on line in a different window.
5. Go to free agents, and click on the down button where it says “Type player’s last name”
6. In the popup screen, on the “Available” line, click “All”
7. Click Search at the bottom
8. Now type in “Mendez” in the “Type player’s last name” box
9. Three Jose Mendez cards are shown—click on any of them
10. Now comes the hard part—click on the correct name; Mendez, Jose (1920) 5.30M in this example
11. Poof! We have the card as it is in strat. Now we have to get that card into Diamond Dope.
12. Go back to the Diamond Dope window, where we should still be in the list of players needing to be input.
13. Click on “update left” on the Jose Mendez 5.30 line.
14. Voila. We have a very weird looking card with all strikeouts. That’s the default or empty card in DD (Diamonddope). We want to make that blue “k” card look just like the blue card Jose Mendez card. We should have two separate windows open—the strat window with the card in strat and the DD window with a blue “k” card and the means to turn that card into the strat card underneath it.
15. We begin the update. One of the easiest errors to make is to get the blue/left and red/right sides of the card mixed up. I avoid that by moving the DD “k” screen over the strat card so only the 3 blue columns on the strat card are showing. The first column in white under the all strikeout blue card is where we begin. The characters--#, @, > and $--to the left of the 2-12 lines are entered in the first column with the down triangle. Then the first outcome under the next down triangle. If there is a split result—a number on the strat card after the first outcome—enter the number in the third column and the second result in the final column.
16. When you have finished the 12 line in the first column, hit the Submit button and the bottom of the screen. Voila! The strikeouts in the first column of the blue DD card above should magical transform themselves into the same column on the blue Strat card. Check each line of the blue strat card with the new blue DD card to make sure they are identical.
17. Repeat, turning the second and third columns of the DD card into the second and third columns of the strat card. When all 3 blue columns are identical, hit “RIGHTIES” in the “Update Joes Mendez against” line above the new blue DD card. While waiting for DD to shift to the red side of the Mendez card, pick up the strat Mendez card and move it to the right side of the DD screen, so only the red columns of the strat Mendez card are showing underneath the DD update scree.
18. Repeat steps 15 and 16 for the 3 columns in red until the DD red card looks like the strat card.
19. If you hit Submit after each column is entered, you’re done when the 3rd red column looks like the strat card. Now you can go back and find another player card to update.
Best,
Hank
