Go Vote on the new Cards...

PostSun Dec 14, 2014 1:48 pm

Just in case anyone missed it,
you have a chance to vote on which new cards will be included for addition.

Im not going to comment on weather its a good process or not- but much like the real elections,
might as well go make your voice heard.

Some folks like the Pre-1900 players
Some like players for a Franchise
Some modern players etc.
My personal opinion is to add to the positions that are a bit shorter on high end guys.
2b, SS, 3B, C and SP.

There are guys in the pool that fit any of the above descriptions.

Definitely agree. Too bad they don't have a poll targeting 2B, SS & 3B. Those seem to be the thinnest positions in higher cap level leagues.

FYI - there are only TWO, that's right TWO) pitchers in the voting group. Zach Greinke will be Mark Fydrich except with a *7 instead of an *9 and Charlie Sweeney, who will be a high-end worst case Three-Finger Brown type with an *9. It would be nice to have these two included in the final 20. When you vote, please remember these two.

Thanks, The Sheik

Ellsworth isn't going anywhere with this ballot, but in 1963 he had a 2.11 ERA, 1.025 WHIP, gave up only 0.4 HR per game in Wrigley, led the league with 167 ERA+ and had a WAR of 10.2. His WAR was 0.5 behind Sandy Koufax. He should be a $9-plus lefty able to pitch in bomber parks. And he'd be a good addition to a shoulda, woulda, coulda team. He was only 23.

with some of the more recent cards we have the ability to just go to the set and take a look to make a judgement on em-
everything except for price.

With the older cards we only have their seasonal stats to go by, making it a more difficult task to determine how much use they would receive.

Not making a judgement, just stating where we run into difficulty.

effusive gratitude to Frank Bailey for the case for that Ellsworth card.

have been jonesin' for that card since at least ATG3

have always believed he and Dolfo Phillips were the real missing ingredients from the '69 Cubs (well, ok, them and a manager with some guts other than that over-the-hill self-promoter, Durocher)
