Is Charleston Too Much Here?

PostFri Jan 02, 2015 2:09 pm

Never used Charleston before. Does it make sense to keep him and DeMoss at 1B and 2B or go Brouthers/Frisch or something like that. Or go cheaper at 1B/2B and improve Higbe?

Thanks as always.

Bill

Forbes cancels the #s on Charleston card. I might like the Brouthers/Frisch combo more given the park.
Given the popularity of Charleston you might even be able to trade him opening other possibilities as well.

I have Charleston and Cobb starting Monday as well, but in Ameriquest. We can see whether you spent too much on Oscar in a no power park or if I spent too much for Cobb in a hitters park. :D

For me Cobb has more value in a hitters park than Charleston in a pitchers park.

In the pitchers park Charleston loses his HRs. But you are still paying salary as if he had them, or at least had part of them depending on how the salary formula is coded.

In the hitters park Cobb loses nothing. His value as a leadoff man should not be reduced much if at all. I say that because even a lineup of sluggers can benefit from some table setters at the top of the lineup. He will get on base and the sluggers following will drive him in. You are getting the full value of the assigned salary.

Now an entire lineup of Cobb types in a bomber park might be different.

Thanks everyone.

My plan is to dump Charleston for a Brouthers-type, maybe Anson, and then upgrade 2B to maybe Collins but I hate the 15-games.
