Autodraft Strategy

Could someone point me to a thread where autodraft strategy is discussed? I'm beginning to think that the perennial leaders in the ATG tournament have a deeper understanding of how to approach an autodraft than I do.

This is a difficult one. Everyone has a different strategy. My own strategy changes depending on the cap level.
I also believe that each batch added to ATG has potential to change where many cards can/should be drafted.
My experience has been that except for the top few where you can get players varies over time. So you cannot say for example that Aaron is always gettable with the 4th pick or whatever.

There have been multiple discussions regarding strategy and where individual players should be picked over the years. You can search through to find those. But be aware as you read those what might have been good advice back in ATG6 or ATG7 may not apply fully with ATG8 and the addition of various cards.

You will probably also have good luck finding autodraft discussions in the strategy forum.

The best thing you can do in my opinion though is play regularly to help you pick up on trends. And record each and every draft card you put together and do an analysis after the draft of which players you got and who you got as consolation. Players you missed on obviously need to move up on future teams. Players you got you might want to experiment with moving down on your card.

Main thing I try to do is identify those cards that are crucial to what I am attempting to build. Those go at top of my draft card. Middle of card is the meat of my team. Bottom four or five slots are players I am taking flyers on just in case they went undrafted. There will always be some good players that are left off everyone's card. Not because they are not considered desirable cards but you can only put so many players at the top and it is a little bit of a guessing game who to put there.
