Injury Questions

I recently played through a quickie freebie season...21 games over 7 days. It was a good learning lesson.

One of the issues I came across was with an injury to a player. Since he was injured for 18 games, I simply cut him and signed a free agent.

Now, comes the question I have. I am now playing in a full season. If someone gets injured, is there a "disabled list" to place him on and call someone up, or am I simply short-handed until the player heals?

Thanks for the answers in advance.

No, there is no DL.

You can always drop the injured player, at least through Game 142, and replace him with a free agent. But moves like that eat up a lot of salary due to the drop penalty. Probably not a good way to go unless you get hit with a 20-game injury very late in the season.

It helps to become familiar with the injury ratings when looking at a player card. There are players who have a "zero" rating meaning that except for in-game injuries they are "bullet-proof" as they are known in the community. These players are guys like Gehrig, Frisch, Musial, Hornsby, Ripken and the new Ruth card; there are of course, many others. Read the descriptions of what the injury numbers mean and incorporate that into your roster decisions. I wish I'd done so "back in the day" years ago when beginning to play Strat! Playing with a lot of high injury risk is gambling with fire, as you've fortunately had a chance to find out with your trial.

Good luck going forward!

A DL feature would be a nice feature.

I thought the max was 15 games?

It is:

Injury limits

Position players

Real-life AB+BB

Max. length of injury

0-599 15 games
600-679 3 games
680+ remainder of game

I like the idea of being able to draft a "farm team" that you can pull from if one of your players gets injured. A league could set an additional maximum salary level for all players on the farm team (e.g., no more than 3 million) and trades could include these players. Food for thought.
