I am wondering what kind of Home / Away splits are the norm for successful teams.

If for example a team wins 100 games, how often is it split 50 wins at home and 50 wins on the road? I'm assuming a more typical split would be 59-60 wins at home and 40-41 wins on the road (.500 record) is closer to the results what most of the 100 win teams get. I don't play in a lot of leagues, but I was curious if my current team headed for 100+ wins and a 47-28 road record is an anomaly. Thanks.

I would say 55 home-45 away split is the closer to the norm.

A while back I did an analysis of the 2014 Barnstormer's tournament, in which there were 22 100+ game winners. Their average home/road win percentage was 53.5% - 46.5%. This also reflects my own 100+ win teams.

Let's see, from a random grab of nine ATG teams, I've got

This is a little more of a home field advantage than in eveldrive's list, but not by a great deal--01.3%. The divergence would be greater except that the last team on my list actually won more games on the road than at home. One of Andy's teams did the same. All of my 100 win teams and all of Andy's, too, won more games on the road than they lost, but sometimes by the barest of margins. Obviously, home field is important!

My results are somewhat different than the assumptiions and results posted above. 100 win teams are hard to come by for me, and maybe the breakdown of my team winss explains why. I have six 100 win teams in too many tries:

My 100 win teams are average 49.8 wins on the road, with 3 teams winning 50 or more games on the road. That's about 48% of my overall wins coming on the road. The 50 road win teams all played in pitcher or singles parks, so I guess a good OBP team can hit anywhere. They also featured weak starting pitching but strong bullpens.

By not exploiting my home field advantage better, I may limit my ability to win 100 games.

I think tmatthews makes a good point. In ATG it is really important to make the most of home field advantage, which is possible to do because each park has known characteristics and each player also has known characteristics. Keying on those characteristics is a very good idea.

At the same time, I think it's important to be at least .500 on the road. If the goal is, say, 90 wins rather than 100, which is a good goal because it's realistic and will get you into the playoffs most of the time--whereas 100 wins is only going to happen when all the stars align--then winning say 41 games at home and 49 on the road will get you there. It's really HARD to win above 40 games on the road in ATG, because all of the teams are keying on their home field, so you need to get that 49 or 50 at home to get to 90.

But winning 41 on the road against teams that have the same salary cap as you and have keyed their players to their home park is also difficult indeed. This is where focusing on OBP can help, as tmatthews suggests. Walks count the same in both home and road parks, for instance. And good pitching is good pitching in any park.

Ultimately, it's conventional wisdom in MLB to try to win .500+ on the road and to try to win a lot at home and this also applies to ATG.

The above is true.
You might also say that managers focusing too much on their home park limit themselves elsewhere and therefore reduce the number of wins they generate.
If my team is built to win anywhere, then the teams that play in my park- who are designed to win at their park- are at a disadvantage. The result being, that my wining % at home is high, despite a lack of effort to tailor my team to my park.
