Who writes these headlines?

How are the headlines for the game stories determined? I know they are machine written but come on. Case in point: Gorman Thomas hit four home runs in four at bats and this is the headline "Sacramento Solons 83 crush Wipeout Tsunamis, 9-1" Really?.................The man hit four homeruns. That's the headline!

Players who hit 2 homeruns in a losing cause seem to be a favorite headline.

I think HAL should just throw caution to the winds and go for broke.

* Carew Bunts Kluszewski to Second in 5-1 Loss to Pontiffs

* Barking Spiders Extend Winning Streak to Two Games

* Clamshuckers Ride Hot Split Deck to Improbable Win

* Bigfoot Appearance Disrupts Snotminer's 7th Inning Rally

* Ruth Injured but Remains in Game in 15-1 Loss to Spagtwirlers

* HAL in Therapy after Giving McGwire 5 Innings at SS

I was surprised at that too (by the way, that was against me)! I think he hit 6-7 homeruns in the series against me.

I remember headlines about winning streaks or winning X straight series, but I haven't seen those in a long time.

I posted about a similar (albeit different) situation.

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/game/427425/55

Willie Aikens hits a WALK OFF PINCH HIT 9TH INNING HOME RUN and doesn't even get mentioned anywhere in the recap of the game .... Apparently the key was Gentile's HR, not the dramatic walk off pinch Homerun .... Seriously????

Here is a fine example. The headline reads,

"Green Mountain Greats of Wrath annihilate Pauli's Exclusions, 27-4"

Unfortunately, I was the Exclusions, and this was the worst beat-down of my Strat career.

A closer look at the game shows that not 1 but 2 Wraths (Wraiths? what is the plural of wrath?) hit 4 home runs in that game, and neither made the headline. Now 27-4 is pretty bad, but really shouldn't Boog's 5-6, 5 run, 4HR, 8rbi performance have rated a headline?

There apparently is no one on the Strat staff who ever worked for a newspaper--and maybe even no one who ever read one!

I seem to remember that there was a big system crash last year or the year before, and one of the casualties of that crash was the game summaries. The summaries were absent for a while, and when they returned they were obviously created and written differently than before the crash. They used to be pretty good. Now, they are a joke and better left turned off.

its the same guy as makes the relief pitcher and multiple-substitutions, hence, similar quality

these were good, though:

* Carew Bunts Kluszewski to Second in 5-1 Loss to Pontiffs

* Barking Spiders Extend Winning Streak to Two Games

* Clamshuckers Ride Hot Split Deck to Improbable Win

* Bigfoot Appearance Disrupts Snotminer's 7th Inning Rally
