Rusty Staub is one of the guys who need card expansion in upcoming rounds. "Le Grande Orange" lives forever. Look at his 1967, 1969 and 1971 seasons!

1967 ★ 23 HOU NL 149 621 546 71 182 44 1 10 74 0 4 60 47 .333 .398 .473 .871
1969 ★ 25 MON NL 158 673 549 89 166 26 5 29 79 3 4 110 61 .302 .426 .526 .952
1971 ★ 27 MON NL 162 690 599 94 186 34 6 19 97 9 5 74 42 .311 .392 .482 .874

To which you could add his:

1966 with Houston (the best early Houston team): .280/.345/.412
1970 with Montreal: .274/.394/.497 (normally his best defensive year)
1979 with Detroit/Montreal: .244/.340/.404 (as a member of a great 1979 Expo team)

He does need another card!

I'd really like to see one of Rusty's earlier seasons added, too - any of those listed would be good choices. He also had a couple of respectable seasons with Detroit later in his career, but my personal prejudices would be happier with one of his Houston years.

I really became conscious of Rusty only once he rejoined the Mets. (though now that I think of it, I must have seen him when the Mets played the A's in 1973 -- next to Willie in the outfield). It is hard to imagine him at age 22 or 23 when he was with Houston in '66 and '67. Rusty could never be 22 years old...he was always 40.

I keep puching for us to add cards that are more representative of a player's career, like Staub, Bill Buckner, Michael Young...........here's a list I posted a few months back. Not exhaustive, but a good start.

How about Rusty Staub's 1969 card? 1980 Bill Buckner? 1937 or 1938 Harlond Clift? 1937 Dick Bartell? 1989 Lonnie Smith? 1945 Tommy Holmes? 1977 Larry Hisle? 1976 Bob Watson? 1978 Dave Parker? 1991 Bobby Bonilla? 1944 Bill Nicholson? 1971 Willie Davis? 1952 Hank Sauer? 1953 Mickey Vernon? 1950 Earl Torgeson? 1961 Joe Adcock? 1971 Willie Montanez? 1986 or 1991 Joe Carter? 1993 Carlos Baerga? 1947 Grady Hatton? 1979 or 1983 Larry Parrish? 1983 Lloyd Moseby? 1971 Bill Melton? 1970 Cesar Tovar? 1977 Dan Driessen? 1956 Charlie Maxwell? 1972 Lee May? 1937 Beau Bell? 1989 Howard Johnson? 2005 Michael Young? 1960 Pete Runnels? 1960 Bill Bruton? 1968 Glenn Beckert? 1993 Lance Johnson? 1954 Granny Hamner? 1959 Harvey Kuenn? 1936 Joe Kuhel? 1941 Nick Etten? 1989 Fred McGriff? 1993 Lance Johnson? 1940 Rip Radcliff? 1975 Jorge Orta? 1963 Tony Taylor? 1926 Johnny Mostil?

Hack and Andy,

Just added those names and years I didn't have on the batters' wish list:

Can we add Bob Bailey's 1970 season to that list too? For a young Expos team it was a very magical and captivating year, and deserves to be recognized. No, it NEEDS to be recognized!

have been Jonesin' for that '67 card for a while, that was a year of low BAs across MLB, so that .333 should have a lot of hits and considering it was in the Astrodome, a little pop - I seem to recall a single-sided basic card w/ a full Honner on 3-4
