Don't Know Much About History...

I'm currently in an ATG Pre WWII league. I haven't examined the entire roster, but note that a number of 1946 season players have been included in the set, even though the war ended in 1945. :?

I shouldn't complain too much, because I have Ted Williams '46 on my team, and he's been a great asset.

maybe Strat included 1946 as a way of paying tribute to all the players that served during the war , some in their prime. Ted not only lost time during World War two but again during Korea.

You might also say that the European theatre war ended with the Nuremburg Trials (or that the Cold War started), trials that finished up in October of 1946. (The Tokyo Trials ended in 1948.)

It's probably, though, because Jackie Robinson integrated Major League baseball in 1947.

So really it is more of a politically correct way of saying pre and post integration?

This also begs the question I have never thought of until now. Why do we not have that barrier breaking 1947 Robinson card in the set?

Garyt - you took the words right out of my mouth, although I first heard that song by Herman's Hermits...

Interesting fact: Herb Alpert co-wrote Wonderful World (don't know much about history......) This is not to be confused with the song "What a Wonderful World" which was of course made famous by Louie Armstrong.

And which neither should be confused with "It's a Small World After All" which after listening to just a few turns in the seemingly unending Disney ride will absolutely .......drive...... you.......crazy (a short trip for most of us!)

Excellent question. We'll have to petition to have that included in ATG 9. ;)
