Please read here for more information.

An additional 20 players will be added to ATG 8. Users can vote for their top 5 players to add in the poll and the top 20 vote getters will be added.

Harper could not be included as these cards will be added before the 2015 cards are ready for Baseball Online. However for the next poll the 2015 cards will be ready and he will be eligible then.

The poll will run through January 6th so make sure to get your votes in before then!

-John

I'll ask again...

Can't we just add ALL 40 right now?

Then do it again every 2 months?

Vote Ellis Burks.
Here are the numbers:
BA: .340
OBA: .408
SLG: .639
2B: 45
3B: 8
HR: 40
RBI: 128
SB: 32

If I recall he was a 1 with a -4 arm and either an A or AA stealer.

I know no one really cares ( :( :x  ) but here were my five votes. It was a difficult choice as all of the candidates could have a case made for them. I'm not going to try to make a case for my five choices but just to give a small rationale for why they got my pick at that particular time.

In no particular order:

1/ Jeff Zimmerman. Only reliever on the list. A Canadian (we need more Canadians), winner of the Tip O'Neill Award in 1999 (for a Canadian having "excelled in individual achievement and team contribution while adhering to the highest ideals of the game of baseball.") Played in the French Elite League. Only played three seasons at the Major League level but if injuries hadn't ruined his arm he probably would have been a top-flight closer. His 1999 season (the one we've been asked to vote on here -- actually I asked you to since he was my nomination) was splendid: an all-star, finished third in ROY voting (behind Beltran and Freddie Garcia), a 0.833 WHIP and a 215 ERA+ (remember this is 1999). An R2 -- so you could get some innings out of him). Here's his card: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/8544/1999/1/1999

2/ Ozzie Smith. I know, we already have 2 other Ozzie years and 1985 is not his best. This was my most difficult choice. But the thought of being able to use Ozzie in 60 mil (and 45 mil) is just to wonderful to pass up. Here's his card (click on 1985): http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/841262/1680/1/80

3/ Ben Zobrist. The Mr. Everything (except catcher). A 2e8 at 2b, 3s and 4s elsewhere. What a slashline! .297/.405/.543. Eighth in MVP voting. A Tampa Bay player. Here's his card: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/player/1277/2009/1/2009

4/ Miquel Tejada. Though I probably would have preferred his 2002 MVP season, this one might even been better. Fifth in MVP voting, bulletproof, a slashline of .311/.360/.534. A option to Baltimore franchises to Ripken.

5/ Mark Loretta. A magical year. .335/.391/.495. Led the league with 16 sacrifice flies. Would be a great addition to the Padre franchise (besides being able to play for the Brewers, Astros, Red Sox and Dodgers).

Well...those are mine. Again, this was a particularly difficult election. Great nominations all the way around!

definitely would rather have Tejada's A's MVP season and have him as an option for A's franchise rather than Orioles who have Ripken.

If there is to be a Tejada card I think I too would have preferred the MVP season. I think we should have all MVP seasons and all Cy Young seasons. Next I would add is the Platinum glove winner for each season. Eventually the Henry Aaron award for the years since it was started.

One card I am hoping for is Zobrist. Draft and put on a NL rules team and see if Hal can properly handle the double switch. Or put him on a team and risk using all the high injury risk cards cause you got a replacement.

How about ALL the Triple Crown Winners.

Missing Hitters:
Miguel Cabrera 2012 We have his 2006 card.
Heinie Zimmerman 1912 We do have a 1914 card.
Paul Hines 1878

Ted Willaims 1942/1947 Not really needed we have his BEST season. But we could have one of these added.
Jimmy Foxx 1933 Have his BEST season. But like Williams this could be added.

Missing Pitchers:
Justin Verlander 2011 Yes he is on the vote list and he could get in.
Jake Peavy 2007

With regards to pitchers the rest are represented. A few on the list could have a card added.

So what are we talking about 4 maybe 5 cards to be added. With additional cards maybe 15 tops. Come on SOM do the RIGHT thing here. :)

I also agree with Visick about just adding the 40 that was submitted and forego the voting process.
