Vote result to be announced on Wednesday. This may be the first year there was no thread with debate on the boards regarding who should and should not make it in. I always enjoyed those discussions. Hard to believe nobody, not even me, thought to post a thread with list of eligible players for discussion.

Sounds like there may be a shift in the voting. The Hall voting requirements were tightened. They sent out a 100 fewer ballots. Thinking is that the eliminated voters tended to be older guys who clung to the benchmark numbers...309 wins....3000 hits etc, were less interested in sabremetric type stats and more opposed to the PED guys.

I think that gives a bump to Bonds and Clemens though probably not getting in this year. While the article suggests Griffey could go in alone....I think that 3 get in....maybe even 4 or 5.

Barry Bonds
Tim Raines
Ken Griffey, Jr.
Larry Walker

just curious as to why you don't also include McGwire and Sosa if you have the other four tainted ones on your list - Piazza, Bagwell, Bonds and Clemens. Maybe Sosa isn't eligible time-wise yet?

McGwire and Sosa are one trick ponies to my mind, very talented ponies, but one trick nonetheless. Bonds and Clemens, especially, were just flat out all-time greats. I admit that I am filled with contradictions about steriod use when it comes to baseball. I was disappointed and disgusted by the what appears to have been overwhelming recourse to chemical assistance in baseball, but I don't know why less so than when it comes to the flat-out evil of Lance Armstrong. Degrees of smugness, perhaps?
