My father passed away in 1998 and he did see Ruth play in St. Louis against the Browns many times in the 20s and 30s. He often said that the Babe was as fierce a competitor that there ever was in baseball. And remmember during this time period there was always a ballgame at Sportsman's Park during the summer because the Cardinals also played there. So he saw all of the great players of the 20s and 30s (American and National League) and still said Ruth was as much a "gamer" as any of them. This article proves it. Thanks for posting. Great stuff!
