$125 mil cap DH post WWII franchise league Yankees

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1414890

A few interesting things about this team:

1. It had 4 20 game winners when Mussina won his 20th game in game 140, making it just my second team to have 4 20 game winners. I'll post this team later in the "What's more rare,30 wins or 4 20 game winners? Post 'em here" thread.

2. Roger Maris had 141 RBI on just 121 hits, while hitting a respectable (for Maris) .270.

3. $5.38 mil Reggie Jackson put up Ruthian numbers, .320, 69, 169, .394, .746 the best I've ever seen for that card at a cap above $100 mil.

4. $8.12 mil Paul O'Neill was injured 6 times, missing a total of 43 games, plus a couple of games going into the playoffs

amazing. your pen only had 21 saves and your staff allowed 267 hrs! mattingly's performance is the most impressive to me

great team also maybe a record of 1100 strike-outs by the offence.

Yeah probably a record, congratulations on a great team!

It looks like a Yankee franchise theme, and people say the Yankees don't have an advantage over other franchises....??

Here's a link to an almost identical $125 mil DH Post WWII Yankees team that won "just" 87 games with a run differential of +126 but got a ring. This team had the 3rd most wins in the league behind he Giants and Braves:

Interesting that adding Rivera and subtracting Henderson (when you already had Mantle, Maris, Jackson, and O'Neill anyway) made such a difference. But Mariano didn't even pitch 50 innings, so he was pretty much a waste of $5+ million.

Mostly, though, it looks like the 108 win team was very lucky with rolls and the other not so.

Here's an 85 mil team with a few more strikeouts (not to mention a Gary Woods/Carmen Fanzone platoon at 2b).

I think the overall level of competition was probably a little tougher for the 87 win team as well.

Henderson was added to platoon with Maris, replacing Hank Bauer, who hit only ,230 for the 87 win team. The league rules for the 108 win team only allowed use of the actual cards for a particular franchise, so I couldn't use the most expensive Henderson, since that was an Oakland card. Regardless having Henderson was a big break, as O'Neill missed 43 full regular season games and two games into the playoffs, plus parts of other games due to being injured 6 times.

Even with Rivera on team 1, both teams had just 21 saves, although team 1, with Rivera, had 12 blown saves, while team 2, without Rivera, had just 2 blown saves.

I have owned some +300 RD teams and a 110 win team, but I have never came close to 400. Great job and God bless!
