Garcia Blog : Bar Charts

PostThu Jun 23, 2016 11:38 pm

I don't quite understand what the blog post today means. The example used for Mantle doesn't help me much. Does it mean all hitters are assumed to be in a ballpark with a 1-8 HR factor, or is it a sliding scale based on the player's home park in the sim? I'm assuming it's a fixed value since that's a better way to judge FA players. But I'm not sure. Thoughts, anyone?

I think he means that the bar shows the card as if ballpark effects were not being used (the "original" result on the card before it is superseded by a ballpark effect symbol)

they were more helpful WITHOUT the ballpark factors put in as you could then just add in the bp factors for the park you want to use. Now you have to subtract out the random 1-8 park they are using and THEN put your park in. I wish they'd just change it back.....but add HBP to walks.

Agreed. Another attempt at improvement failed because of their failure to understand how we play the game.

I tuned them out. This isn't Ethan Allen's baseball game with the pie chart discs. Would be nice to get a blog addressing the Daily Game.

Bar Charts? I thought he was going to talk about the price of beer in a bottle vs. beer from a tap. Now I'm confused! :? :D

Think this is correct. In the Mantle example they are giving the home run between 1-8. If Mantle 61 v LH was used, a 2-10 would give a home run between 1-17.

Don't forget rail drinks.
And then to really throw a screw ball at things is Happy Hour. And what about Lady's Night?

I think a before vs after comparison of how the change affected the HR chances displayed would have been more illustrative and helpful to the casual user.
