The 12 season $140 million Dream League (managers draft their entire team, in draft order) just finished. The results by draft order were kind of surprising.

Pick RSW POW Champs
1 1052 30 1
3 1042 34 3
6 1040 42 2
5 1030 24 2
2 1027 24 1
7 1001 11 1
4 959 16 1
8 945 11 1
9 929 6 0
10 921 5 0
12 875 1 0
11 843 1 0

The columns are, in order, draft position, regular season wins, playoff wins, championships. Note that every draft position managed a playoff appearance, we believe that this was the first dream league where the #12 slot did so. Congratulations to BCP7 for breaking new ground in the dream league universe.

No individual manager won more than 2 rings. The 2 ring managers were BDWard, BruceF, Treyomo, and myself. One ring guys were JFreeman, motherscratcher, Goreds, and LJS. Other participants will go unnamed. :)

The above chart shows the depth of talent now available at this cap. I urge those of you who have never tried this cap to do so, even a bad autodraft is probably salvageable now. Note that the worst two draft positions in the dream format (i.e. they got "nobody" from an autodraft card) averaged over 70 wins per season.

These leagues a re always interesting.
Quite a while ago I was in a $60 league like this, and lost 95 games when picking my team first, and won a league from the 12th pick.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1437884 - 8th slot
http://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1437831 - 12th slot

Still FAs - Pujols, Yount, Helton, Thome, Biggio, Banks, Bender, Drysdale, Clemens, Rivera, Hoffmann

This is a fun league if you get 12 managers willing to stick around - the talent is thick, and I think every slot made the playoffs at least once.

I must admit I`m surprised to see this large a difference between the position ranking, considering the talent pool in a 12-team league. In my only experience, HankO won 113 games by selecting 9th or 10th...he did foucus on pitching, though, he had the best rotation.

What was the cap?

There is a considerable tactical advantage in picking in the middle, before the talent has really thinned out. This was particularly true in our league where we assigned divisions 1-4-7-10, 2-5-8-11, and 3-6-9-12.

Also, I'm not sure why you think this was a big difference from 1st to last? 209 wins over 12 seasons is about 17.5 wins from 1st to last.

Be that as it may, I learned a lot about $140 million.
