MUSIAL PRIMARY POSITION NEEDS CHANGE to RF ASAP!

In 1948, Musial played 81 games in RF, 65 in cf, 42 in LF and 2 at 1B.

Musials primary position should be RF where he played most games and where his fielding rating is 2. He's a 3 in CF.

It screws with your ability to draft a team because if you dont get Musial, you end up with 2 centerfielders!

A quick look at the game logs from 1948 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?id=musiast01&t=f&year=1948 shows that, yes, Musial may have played more games in RF but he started more games in CF (63 gs in center/51 gs in rf). In many of the games that he started in center, Musial shifted over to right to finish the game (Musial finished 30 games in rightfield that he hadn't started in rightfield). It makes me suspect that he had more innings in center than in right.

Theme song for today is "Too Much Time On My Hands" by Styx.
I downloaded the game log data for CF and RF into a spreadsheet, here are the results: CF = 65 games, 1523 batters, 416.2 innings -- RF = 81 games, 1754 batters, 482 innings. Thus it would seem divad has a valid point.

I just calculated including those games that have no innings attributed to them on the gamelogs page. By looking at the individual games in question, you find that in most of them Musial started in center and then moved over to right in the eighth or usually ninth inning (with two expections). Which means that Musial had 494 innings in center and 493 innings in right (give or take a few).

Gee, I always thought he should be made a primary LF because of his candy arm.

Divad, if the worst thing that ever happens to you in AD leagues is that you get an extra CF, consider yourself lucky.

And don't, whatever you do, ever, ever, ever draft the 0.50 Elston Howard to be your backup C - his primary position is LF and you will not be able to make any moves before waivers with only one C on your team unless you can trade for a C from a guy who has 3 of them.

When I have Howard on my draft card it is usually in high cap leagues where I hope to platoon him. I then put 2 possible platoon mates on my team in hopes of getting one and Howard. If I miss on 2 or more then I adjust depending on what my consolations on the 2 other catchers turned out to be.
