Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

In a league that has just started featuring almost "pure" teams (1927 Yanks, 1929 A's, 1955 White Sox...), a conflict arose between the 1940 Tigers and the 1946 Red Sox, a conflict revolving around Rudy York. It was soon discovered that in 1940 the first baseman for the Tigers was York and the primary leftfielder was Hank Greenberg. Actually, Greenberg was so much so the primary leftfielder that he NEVER played first base in 1940. The card that we have of him from that year is carded for both first base (as his primary position no less) and left field. I have just asked customer support to change Greenberg's card to reflect that 1940 reality.

If you know of other mistakes, please list them below and perhaps we can get them all corrected.

I am in agreement about Greenberg, but would the removal of his first base rating make for a change in salary? LF 5 (+5) is tough to put in the field.

well, I guess I've been floating around here a while. I remember this well, in the early versions, Greenberg could only play LF or sit in a lawn chair in LF. There was likely alot of discussion and voices in favor of him getting a 1B card? I do love that card offensively in that range for a 1bmen,,,,,,,will he be gone?

Don't change cards unless we get a set reprice. TSN probably gave him the 1B ability just like they priced 1/2 the set in the Bush administration. Disparities.

It sucks for non dh leagues but for dh leagues the repricing will make him a better pick.

Why can't you request the LF eligibility and leave the 1B eligibility? He obviously could have played 1B in 1940. 1940 must not be a Cadillac season.

Rudy York played every game, every out, and is bulletproof. There is no historical reason for Greenberg to have first base ability in 1940. The 1940 Tigers sucked it up and played Greenberg in left in order to have two great hitters back to back in the lineup. They went 90-64 and went all the way to the seventh game of the World Series only to lose to a great Reds team. I think we can do without Greenberg at first in 1940.

If Greenberg cannot play 1B, which I agree makes sense, his card should be repriced.

His range factor per game was 2.11 and the league averaged 2.32, so the 4 range is probably correct.
He had 14 assists that year, by contrast, Barney McCosky who was the teams CF'er had only 6.
McCosky is a 2(+1) with 362 chances, Greenberg is a 4(+5) with 327 chances, seems like his arm was not that bad. Bad enough to test and get thrown out, but not a +5, Strat should adjust that also!
