Could you at least buy me dinner or use some effective form of lubrication.

Detroit Tigers from 18 and 11, first place , to 54-57, 3rd place
Chicago Cubs '45 12-6, first place several times; 56-55
Detroit Tigers '20 19-7, first place 2 times; 36-33, 2nd place
Kansas City Athletics '60, 17-12, first place, 26-22, 2nd place
Houston Astros, 34-12, first place by a mile, 38-31, 2nd place four games out.

All of these teams have fallen from first to whatever in the last week.

Leaving aside the fact that I thought most of these teams were .500 caliber at best, why tease me with victory only to crush me with simultaneous defeat?

What sacrifices are needed to appease thee oh great strat gods?

A chicken
A virgin (if you can find one)

Or just hope for a rain delay.

Shuffle your lineups around. Get unorthodox for a night. Place your best performing players high in the lineup, regardless of their name or price.

I can sympathize. Had a team at 55-45, with a 10 game division lead, suddenly go on a 16! game losing streak. Adios, creditos.

Had to join in here, I cannot tell you how many times my teams have had the best record and/or best run differential only to lose to a weaker team in the playoffs. I have been a fan of the normalization theory in the past, but I'm not sure now, just the normal ebb and flow of the game I think. We run so many teams that the performances that seem to us to be unusual are only unusual in our own context. Appeasing the "Strat Gods" is impossible because the game of baseball routinely breaks our hearts...so HAL crushes our hopes routinely as well.

Wow that is tough. That last one on a 4-20 run. Big time ouch. You appear to have done something wrong.

Reminds me of a boss I used to have. Vice president of accounting whenever our computer system would malfunction would tell me I must not be living right. LOL. But dude you must have really been living wrong. I would reverse and change everything you are doing right down to how you brush your teeth. Leave nothing to chance.
