Trying to create a balanced franchise league with a few more opportunities for strategies, and something for those of you that like to draft/team build.
This is a carded franchise league. Each manager will create their team of three franchises through a four round, serpentine draft of three MLB franchises and a ballpark. To be eligible for your final roster, a player must have a SoM ATG 8 card for one of your three franchises or be a NeL player. When the sign up sheet (by manager number) below is filled, we will have a randomizer generate 1-12 with the corresponding manager numbers drafting first to last.
Franchise/Ballpark Draft:
We can hold the draft on the Individual League Chat forum.The draft will be in four rounds in serpentine form (1-12 12-1 1-12 12-1). In any round a manager may choose either an unclaimed franchise, or an unclaimed ballpark. The is no duplication of franchises or ballparks. A franchise refers to the entire history of the team. For example the Braves franchise would include the Atlanta Braves, the Milwaukee Braves, the Boston Braves, Bees…Rustlers…Doves…Beaneaters…and Red Stockings. Wikipedia will give the history of each franchise when in doubt.
The available franchises are: Braves, Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, Reds, Indians, Tigers, Dodgers, A’s, Phillies, Pirates, Giants, Cardinals, Orioles (Browns), Angels, White Sox, Astros, Nationals (Expos), Blue Jays, Brewers, Twins (Senators), Mets, Marlins, Padres, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Mariners, Rangers, Royals, Providence Grays, Devil Rays, Troy Trojans, Detroit Wolverines, Philadelphia Athletics (1887-1890 Different than the A’s franchise), Louisville, Hartford, Buffalo. There are 37 franchises to chooses from so there will be one unowned. Any player carded only to the unowned franchise will be ineligible for our league.
To add strategy, the will be only 12 ballparks available: 3 high home run parks, 3 low home run parks, 3 right handed parks, and 3 left handed parks. No duplication is allowed. Once a park is chosen, like a franchise, it comes off the board.
The available ballparks are: Polo 41 (0,0 20,20), Baker 32 (11,11 20,20), Coors 99 (19,19 17,19)…Petco 05 (1,1 1,1), Forbes 09 (8,8 0,0), Forbes 57 (17,17 1,1)…Hilltop 11 (17,12 1,19), Wrigley 59 (4,5 4,17), Shea 64 (8,8 4,13)…Penmar Park (9,9 17,2), Yankee 71 (8,2 12,1), Jarry Park 71 (7,7 19,10).
Once the 4 round draft is completed, I will create the league and teams can begin to enter, and will be assigned to random divisions upon filling. It will be a $250 million cap league with a DH.
Player draft:
Please name your team for one of your franchises.
When creating your draft card for the auto draft, there are 2 types of players eligible for your roster.
1) Players with a SoM ATG 8 card for one of your three franchises.
2) NeL players. Important…in this league NeL players are available for [*]draft immediately[*], and do not have to be dropped pre waiver. (I feel that this will add more strategy to the creation of draft cards).
Waivers: The only players you must release prior to waivers are players that have no card for your franchises. If you have more than one of these players, and one that has cards for multiple other franchises, please drop them as a priority to give both teams a shot at that player in waivers. If possible. Again…you do NOT need to release NeL players pre-waiver as they are eligible to be drafted in the auto draft.
Trades: Trades are allowed so long as all roster eligibility rules are met on both sides. In other words for a trade to be legal, all players involved must have franchise cards for both teams involved in the trade or be NeL.

Remember, draft order will be determined by a randomizer of manager numbers, so your manager number doesn’t matter. Unless you are feeling lucky.
