Lf vs lefties

PostThu Mar 02, 2017 11:16 am

I need to pick up a left fielder to platoon with daniels. It is for the stretch run in division. I am cutting my 6th starter who I no longer need. My home field and division parks have little or no bp hrs. I have a defensive replacement in left. There are 5 lefty starters out of 13 in division. My choices are mark brouhard chuck harmon or barry bonnell. Thanks. I Could also use brouhard as dh as I have clines as lf platoon

Brouhard would be ok if the ballparks were favorable to the long ball. This all depends on the rest of your team makeup and ballparks you are playing in. How about a link to the team so we can see what you're up against.

I'd go Brouhard, especially if you have a better D option in LF and can use him at DH.

1. Clines
2. Bonnell

I used Brouhard once. He's great, if you like hitting into a lot of double plays ;)

Looking at your team, I would just move Clines to LF (you've got Birmingham as Def replacement), and find another option to pair with Backman as your DH, Hod Ford, Alan Wiggins, Tommy Harper, Dutch Holland, Alex Johnson, Leo Cardenas, Jose Cardenal, Bobby Morgan, Lee Walls, Rafael Ramirez, Solly Hemus, plus the 3 you mentioned. Most of them around a buck or less, the list of guys is relatively loaded with players to DH vs. lefties in Forbes'57.

If there are few HR ballparks so maybe power not an issue have you consider Jesus Alou, Cardenal, or Clines?
Or since you have a defensive replacement what about Tony Philips?

I like Prothro for that ballpark.
