splinters off of new cards thread

Radagast Brown's post there made me think:
1) isn't it possible to select eras when forming leagues? (but I understand his original point - too many old-timers in the set - I don't agree, but everyone is entitled to an opinion)
2) would people be interested in ATGs by decade - I don't mean the mystery card sets (see below)? (I realize that is not his point either)
3) why are we being spoon-fed cards? presumably, every 'published' card is represented in computer form at Strat
maybe its the pricing? (takes time to price the cards, especially relative to the already existing rest of the set)
mystery card rant - more power to fans of that genre, and please don't take this as disrepect of your aesthetic or enjoyment if you are one, but I am confused enough by $7-9M players performing WAY below their historicals to ever want to try to figure out if I actually drafted the season that hit .300 or the one that hit .220
